Downhill vs Enduro: Which Bike Shreds Whistler Bike Park Best?

In short: We rode an enduro bike (a custom-built 2025 Norco Sight, 160 mm front and 150 mm rear travel) and a downhill bike (a custom-built Specialized Demo) face to face on A-Line, Crank It Up, Original Sin and Schleyer at Whistler Bike Park. The flow laps and the steep, technical trails show that, whatever you ride, you can have fun at Whistler.

Whistler Bike Park is iconic for a reason, serving up everything from buttery smooth flow lines to rugged, technical descents. But when it comes to choosing the right bike, the question always comes up: downhill or enduro?
In our latest video, we put both to the test on some of Whistler's most legendary trails. We ripped through A-Line and Crank It Up for fast, flowy laps, then dropped into Original Sin and Schleyer to see how each bike handles steep, technical terrain.
What do we ride? Enduro and downhill bikes for Whistler Bike Park
The enduro bike: a custom-built 2025 Norco Sight
I ride a custom-built 2025 Norco Sight, dialled for aggressive trail and enduro. Up front, it runs a Marzocchi Z1, chosen for its stiff chassis and ultra-predictable support on steep, rough terrain, and yet very affordable, reliable and easy to service. On the rear, I've matched it with a RockShox Vivid Ultimate, giving the bike a smooth, bottomless feel while still keeping plenty of pop for berms and jumps. Remember that this bike offers 160 mm of travel up front paired with 150 mm on the rear.
Stopping power comes from Hope Tech 4 E4 brakes, delivering sharp modulation and consistent performance even on long alpine descents. For cockpit compliance, I run a Renthal Fatbar 31.8 mm trimmed to 760 mm, which offers more flex and comfort than oversized bars, paired with flat pedals, because grip, instinct and freedom of movement matter more to me than clipping in.
The downhill bike: a custom-built Specialized Demo
The downhill bike I try to chase is a custom-built Specialized Demo, a bike that's built to take big hits and stay composed at race pace. It features a RockShox Boxxer Ultimate up front and an EXT Storia coil shock on the rear, a combo that blends sensitivity with unreal mid-stroke stability for technical lines and big compressions. Braking is handled by Hayes Dominion, a setup known for its unbeatable lever feel and consistent bite in wet, dusty or high-heat conditions.
