Bike Parks in Andorra: Complete Guide to Plan Your Trip

In short: Andorra has two major areas for lift-assisted riding. Vallnord Pal Arinsal Bike Park (La Massana) is the downhill and enduro bike park: 30 trails and more than 60 km, over 1,000 m of vertical drop, 4 lifts and World Cup tracks. Grandvalira E-Bike Trails (Encamp, Canillo and Soldeu) is an e-bike-only area with 111 km of marked routes. The season runs from late June to September, you get there by car from Barcelona or Toulouse (about 200 km) and the most practical place to sleep is La Massana, next to the Pal Arinsal gondola.
Andorra is one of the most complete bike park destinations in southern Europe: two resorts with summer lifts, trails for every level and a small country where everything is close by. This guide gathers what you need to decide where to ride, when to go, how to get there and where to stay.

Vallnord Pal Arinsal Bike Park: downhill, enduro and World Cup

Pal Arinsal is Andorra's classic bike park and the one most riders know. Its trails run between the Pic del Cubil and La Massana with more than 1,000 m of vertical drop, and you reach them from the village itself with the La Massana gondola. Up top, three chairlifts spread riders around the Pal and Arinsal sectors.
Trails and levels
According to the official 2026 map, the bike park has 30 trails and more than 60 km: 5 green, 10 blue, 11 red and 6 black, plus beginner areas and e-bike trails. Almost 80% of the terrain is natural paths and singletrack, which makes it a very complete option for enduro, not just downhill.
- Greens and blues: flow trails with berms and small jumps, perfect for the first day or for getting your feel back.
- Reds: more speed, roots, rock and bigger jumps.
- Blacks: technical terrain and trails homologated for the downhill World Cup.
A World Cup venue
Pal Arinsal has been on the international calendar for years: its trails have hosted MTB World Cup rounds and the 2015 and 2024 World Championships, and in 2026 it welcomed the downhill World Cup again (round 8, 8 to 12 July). Riding the same tracks as the pros is one of the park's big attractions. Check the upcoming races in the MTB events calendar.

School, rental and kids
The bike park has a downhill school with instructors certified by the EFPEM, who teach technique, safety and the park's trails. For the youngest there is Furious by Pal Arinsal, a space for children aged 3 to 10 with specialised instructors. In La Massana there are shops renting downhill, enduro and e-bikes, as well as protective gear.
All the information about the park (Bike Pass, lessons, rental, webcams and how to get there) is on the Vallnord Pal Arinsal Bike Park page.
Grandvalira E-Bike Trails: high mountain on an electric bike

In summer, the Grandvalira ski resort becomes Grandvalira E-Bike Trails: 111 km of marked routes for electric mountain bikes only, spread across Encamp, Canillo and Soldeu. It is a different approach from Pal Arinsal: here long high-mountain routes, lakes and mountain passes take the lead, not jumps.
Colour-coded routes and the Tour Grandvalira
Routes are graded by colour according to difficulty. In 2026 the colour-coded routes add up to about 51 km (green 5 km, blue 18 km, red 13 km and black 15 km), and separately there is the Tour Grandvalira, 30 km in each direction, which crosses the area from end to end.
- Green and blue: wide tracks and paths, suitable for families and for anyone starting out on an e-bike.
- Red and black: technical singletrack with significant elevation changes.
- Tour Grandvalira: the area's big route, demanding because of its length rather than its technical difficulty.

Lifts and rules
You go up with the gondolas at Encamp (Funicamp), Canillo and Soldeu, and the Bike Pass includes 4 rides a day. On the area's routes a full-face helmet is mandatory. Since it is an e-bike-only area, you need your own electric mountain bike or a rental.

All the information about the area is on the Grandvalira E-Bike Park page, and if you are interested in combining both parks in one trip, read how to ride Vallnord and Grandvalira by e-bike.
When to go: season and opening hours
Andorra's bike parks open in summer. For reference, in the 2026 season:
- Pal Arinsal opened from 20 June to 13 September every day, 9:30 to 18:00, and then on weekends from 19 September to 12 October, 9:30 to 17:00.
- Grandvalira E-Bike opened from 20 June, with the Funicamp running from 11 July to 8 September, 10:00 to 16:00.
The 2027 dates have not been published yet: check each resort's official website before booking your trip.
Which month to choose:
- Late June and early July: freshly prepared trails, long days and fewer people than in August.
- July and August: everything open and the best weather, but it is also the busiest time. Afternoon storms are common in the high mountains: make the most of the mornings.
- September: mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Check which lifts are still open, because the schedule is reduced.
How to get to Andorra with your bike
Andorra has no airport with commercial flights inside the country, so almost everyone arrives by road.
- By car: the most convenient option for carrying your bike and protective gear. Barcelona and Toulouse are about 200 km away.
- By plane: the airports closest to La Massana are Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell (27 km), Toulouse-Blagnac (195 km) and Barcelona-El Prat (200 km); also Lleida-Alguaire (150 km), Carcassonne (176 km), Reus (240 km) and Girona (260 km).
- By bus: AndBus (from Toulouse and Barcelona, with a stop at El Prat), Andorra DirectBus (Barcelona Sants and El Prat), ALSA and HIFE. Inside Andorra the national bus network runs.
At Pal Arinsal there are 10 free car parks at the access points to the sectors, and a motorhome area at La Caubella, 100 m from the Bike Park access, free for park users. At Grandvalira there are car parks next to the gondolas at Encamp, Canillo and Soldeu.
Where to stay

The most practical base is La Massana: the Pal Arinsal gondola leaves from the village, so you leave the car and ride up. From La Massana you can also get to Grandvalira, although you will need to travel by car or bus to Encamp, Canillo or Soldeu. If your trip is e-bike only in Grandvalira, sleeping in Soldeu puts you next to its gondola.
What to look for in a hotel for a bike park trip:
- Secure bike storage and, if possible, a bike wash area.
- Walking distance to the lift: it saves the most time every morning.
- Half board: after a day of descents it is nice not to have to look for somewhere to have dinner.
- Triple or quadruple rooms if you travel with friends.
At BikePark Holidays we combine hotels in La Massana and Soldeu with the bike park Bike Pass, and from the hotels in Andorra you can add the other park's pass to alternate during your stay. See the options in Accommodation + Bike Pass or the cheapest dates in Offers.
What to bring and how to prepare
For downhill at Pal Arinsal you need, at a minimum, a full-face helmet, goggles, gloves, knee pads and a serviced suspension bike with brakes in perfect condition. At Grandvalira the full-face helmet is mandatory on the e-bike routes. If you do not have a downhill bike, renting one in La Massana usually pays off compared with transporting yours.
Check your insurance too: many bike policies do not cover downhill, and Andorra is not part of the European Union, so confirm in writing that your policy covers downhill riding and assistance in Andorra. We explain what to bring, item by item, in the bike park gear checklist.
Safety and emergencies
- Emergency numbers in Andorra: 112 emergencies, 116 medical emergencies, 110 police and 118 fire brigade.
- Hospital: Hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell, in Escaldes-Engordany, is Andorra's general hospital.
- At the bike park: at Pal Arinsal, the bike patrol gives first aid in coordination with the resort's medical teams.
Respect the signs on each trail, start one level below what you think you have and move up as you get to know the terrain.
Frequently asked questions
How many bike parks are there in Andorra?
The two major areas with lifts for bikes are Vallnord Pal Arinsal Bike Park, in La Massana, with downhill, enduro, XC and e-bike trails, and Grandvalira E-Bike Trails, in Encamp, Canillo and Soldeu, for electric bikes only.
Which bike park in Andorra is best for beginners?
Both have green and blue trails. Pal Arinsal has beginner areas, a downhill school and a space for children aged 3 to 10, so it is the most complete option if it is your first time at a bike park. If you are after gentle e-bike routes, Grandvalira's greens and blues are very accessible.
Can I go with an electric bike?
Yes. Grandvalira E-Bike Trails is an e-bike-only area with 111 km of marked routes, and Pal Arinsal also has trails for electric bikes.
When do Andorra's bike parks open?
In summer. In 2026, Pal Arinsal opened from 20 June to 13 September every day and on weekends until 12 October, and Grandvalira E-Bike from 20 June. The 2027 dates are published on each resort's official website.
Where is the best place to stay for a bike park in Andorra?
In La Massana, because the Pal Arinsal gondola leaves from the village and you can also get to Grandvalira from there. If you are only riding e-bikes in Grandvalira, Soldeu puts you next to its gondola.
Do I need a full-face helmet?
At Grandvalira E-Bike Trails it is mandatory. At Pal Arinsal it is the recommended protection for any downhill trail, along with goggles, gloves and knee pads.
